A Three Week Sermon Series on Living with Fulfillment and Joy
June 13- “Spiritual Fulfillment” Luke 7:11-17
Jesus never insulted people by telling them their problems weren't real. He never told the sick that it was all in their head or that their illness was psychosomatic. He never told people that death wasn't real, nor did He offer people empty words of comfort to soothe their grieving heart. The troubles, problems and hurts of this world are real, and so are the problems of the spiritual, psychological world. Trouble and tragedy are real. Evil and death are real. Jesus never said to His disciples on the stormy Sea of Galilee, "This is no storm. The storm is in your mind." Instead He said to the storm, "Peace, be still." And it was. And it can be for you.
June 20- “Fiscal Fitness” Proverbs 22:1-16
Money is like nitroglycerin: handling it is not morally wrong, but, especially if you do not know what you are doing, it is extremely risky. It seems as if everywhere you look, there is a warning label of some kind on toys, cigarettes, diet soft drinks, even air bags! Perhaps it would be a good idea to put a warning label on dollar bills, certificates of deposit, and credit cards. Perhaps nothing has been the ruin of more people, marriages, and friendships, than the failure to handle money properly. The Bible teaches us how to live in fiscal fulfillment and rid ourselves of the chains of anxiety.
June 27-“Social Fulfillment” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Our culture is experiencing a social revolution---the very way we communicate is drastically changing. But with those changes, some important elements of communication have been lost. In a Facebook world, the words people most need to hear, face-to-face are the God’s face words: “I love you.” Jesus wants you to feel wanted, welcome and whole. He can show you how to bring social fulfillment not only into our own lives, but the lives of others as well. |
