COVID-19 Update

The Living Word Church building is unavailable for use by small groups at least through January 15, in order to provide the time to see the effects of holiday gatherings on our area’s COVID-19 numbers. Worship will continue to be online only for January 3, 10, and 17.  We will continue to offer both the traditional service and the contemporary service on Facebook and at livingwordumc.org. The pre-recorded services are available on the website early on Sunday morning, and the same services are premiered live on Facebook at 8:30 am and 11:00 am.

Worship Services

Traditional Worship - 8:30 am

Traditional Worship is offered at 8:30 am every Sunday. The traditional service includes scripture, prayer, message, liturgy, offering, traditional choral music, and hymns. Childcare and Sunday School classes are not currently offered, but children are welcome to join their families for worship in the Worship Center. The Cry Room is also available for use.

Contemporary Worship - 11:00 am

Contemporary Worship is offered at 11:00 am every Sunday. The contemporary service includes scripture, prayer, message, offering, and contemporary music. The 11:00 am service features the very same message as the Traditional Service, but with a more informal atmosphere, contemporary Christian music, and a praise band.

Our Mission

Living Word is a dynamic, vibrant community of Christ open to people from all walks of life. Our mission is to live as a community who follow Jesus as we worship, learn, serve, and celebrate together!

Our Beliefs

About God

We believe in the Holy Trinity, that God exists as an eternal relationship of love among Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and invites all people to participate in that relationship of love.

God the Father is the great mystery and creator of the universe. We were created in God’s own image, to love and to be loved.

God the Son became human in Jesus Christ, and is the Savior of the world. Jesus Christ is fully human and fully divine and is the supreme example for living a life of love, bravery and dedication. We believe Jesus was crucified, and was resurrected, forever defeating the power of sin and death; and offers salvation who all accept him as Savior and Lord.

God the Holy Spirit is God’s presence living in us, empowering us to be what we could never be on our own. The Holy Spirit is our sustainer, encourager and comforter as we move through daily life.

About the Community of Faith

Living Word is a Community of Faith that accepts every person who walks through our doors just as they are. We long to be a wider family of faith, going beyond our building to be in ministry outside our doors. We live out our faithfulness to this community through participation in our four pillars: Worship, Learn, Serve and Celebrate.

About the World

We believe God is interested in redeeming the entire world to be that which God created it to be. Our vision of the world is seen through the lens of grace. God’s grace is freely given to us from the beginning of our lives to draw us to God, forgive us of our sins, and transform us into the people God created us to be.

About Being United Methodists

We are United Methodists and open our doors and hearts to all people. As we struggle to make decisions about how to live, we do so with prayer and study. Scripture is the primary source for our beliefs. Our beliefs are also guided by tradition (what the traditions of the Christian church have been through the ages), experience (the personal experience of Christians overall), and reason (we believe in a faith that makes sense).

As United Methodists we believe, “If your heart is like my heart, take my hand.” (2 Kings 10:15)
